Shelby 1967

Process of Shelby

Since I started learning 3D modeling, I’ve always dreamed of modeling a car. For my first car project, I chose the stunning 1967 Shelby Mustang, a vintage beauty with a timeless, classy design.

I probably should’ve started with something simpler, but once I began, I couldn’t stop. As a teenager, I spent hours playing GTA, and the thought of modeling something that could hypothetically be in the game filled me with excitement.

Throughout the process, I faced many challenges, understanding the complex shapes of the car, figuring out where to begin, and learning what works best for future automotive projects. There was a lot of trial and error, creating and deleting parts until I got them right.

This personal project gave me a lot of valuable experience, not just in how to start modeling a car, but also in deepening my understanding of the tools in Maya, such as symmetry, Quad Draw, and more. There were even moments where reference images were incomplete, so I had to rely on my instincts and imagination to fill in the blanks.

Overall, this project was a huge learning experience, and it’s made me even more excited for the next one.
